This course is designed to give updated information on Medicare for 2018 and how it effects the practice of physical therapy. The course will update the participants on what has and has not changed in Medicare for 2018 and how the current fee schedule was compiled. Emphasis will also be placed on the "misvalued" codes as well as updates on proper use and documentation of current CPT codes relevant to best practice.

Following this webinar, the participant will be able to:
1. Understand the 2018 Medicare changes
2. Review Medicare requirements that were not changed for 2018 including the use of the ABN form, manual claims review process and the use of billing modifiers.
3. Understand how the misvalued codes were evaluated and the current formulas
4. More accurately use and document established CPT codes for the services they provide.

 

Speaker Bio

Mitchel Kaye, PT is a graduate of the University of Southern California Physical Therapy program. Mitch has severed as the Director of Quality Assurance for PTPN, a national network of private practices, for the past 14 years. Mitch’s 28 years of clinical practice experience included working in acute care, outpatient and private practice settings. He also served as a full-time Medicare Consultant. Current Association activities include severing on both the CPTA Payment Policy Committee as well as on the CPTA Quality Practice Committee, he is an Assembly Rep for GLAD, he is a past CPTA Director, and has served on numerus APTA, CPTA, PTBC, FSBPT, and Noridian committees. Mitch is also a recipient of the CPTA Clarence W. Hultgren Service Award

Dennis Langton, PT received his B.S. degree in Health Education and Physical Therapy in 1973 from the University of Utah. His post graduate studies include a wide variety of advanced clinical courses in the areas of Manual Therapy, Sports Medicine, Neurology, Craniomandibular Disorders, and Work Rehabilitation. He is a Diplomat of the Physical Therapy Board of Craniofacial and Vertebral Therapeutics. Mr. Langton has presented over 30 post graduate research papers and taught over 100 post-graduate professional courses, both nationally and internationally, in the areas of orthopedics, manual therapy, orthotics and prevention education. He is presently a consultant in head, neck, and facial pain to the Clinical Research Foundation, and an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Southern California. Mr. Langton is co-author of a functional anatomy text on the head, neck and temporomandibular joint and contributing author on two textbooks on evaluation and treatment of CMD. He is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Health Policy and Administration sections and is a former Trustee of APTA-PAC. He currently serves on the CPTA Payment Policy and Finance Committees
